Securing notes / data

Recommended Posts

I use Evernote to keep all my usernames and passwords for different web sites and accounts.  I "self-encrypt" of course by not spelling out the whole word.  But, I wonder if I am taking a crazy security risk by doing this on Evernote ... and ... if there is a security feature for Evernote (enable password protection, etc)???   I know Evernote encrypts when they sync the data but I am worried about someone hacking my phone in public or getting possession of my phone and having no restrictions into Evernote.   Thanks.

I agree with @Metrodon:  It is much better to use a dedicated password manager, like 1Password or LastPass:

  1. Evernote has a very low level of security.
  2. Password managers are much, much more secure
  3. Can provide auto login to most web sites
  4. Can generate extremely strong passwords
  5. Most work across platforms, including PC, Mac, and smartphones

I have used 1Password for years now, and can highly recommend it.

Yes. I use Chrome and can't even seem to stop Evernote from auto-populating my password.  I have deleted cookies specifically for Evernote but it doesn't seem to matter
