Adam_AU 1
I've noticed that in Evernote Mac 6.0.13 a JPEG image dragged from the web into a note becomes a PNG, taking up vastly more space than it should. For example, visithttps://www.museodelprado.es/en/the-collection/online-gallery/on-line-gallery/zoom/1/obra/annunciation/oimg/0/ which is a 90kb RGB JPEG 520 × 938 called 3a4af4ff99.jpg but when you drag it into Evernote suddenly your usage goes up by 800kb and it becomes D8B58DD4-585D-48C8-B9AA-608FA903A8CE.png which is a 815kb PNG, although still 520 × 938 pixels. Now I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but this sounds like a good way to make sure people blow their 60MB free allowance pretty darn quickly, grrr. Link to comment

I can confirm this drag/drop bug in EN Mac 6.0.13 running Mavericks (10.9.5).I suspect this is part of the same EN Mac bug acknowledged by Evernote employee briancaldwell in this thread:Evernote is no longer honoring the original image format while pasting from clipboard Post by briancaldwell: Posted 10 June 2015 - 06:03 PMThis may actually be a bug. I'm seeing inconsistent drag and drop results in Chrome, Safari and Firefox when trying to drag and drop a jpg or gif image into a new note. I'm filing a ticket with our dev team to investigate further. In the meantime, you can drag and drop to your desktop first, then drag the images into an Evernote note. This seems to work consistently and retains the originating file format. Link to comment
Adam_AU 1
Thanks all. Okay, it sounds like a bug in Evernote 6/OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks, and Evernote were alerted to it on 10 June and again in a report I filed 28 June.(I didn't find the other thread when I searched for 'PNG' in the fora as it's not mentioned in the thread head — thank you JMichael.) Yes the clipper keeps it as a JPEG but — like dropping on the desktop first — it's a lot more steps than the ol' drag'n'drop. Oh, and before anyone asks, no the bug's not just limited to JPEGs by El Greco ;-) Adam. Link to comment
