RobertJSawyer 166
Evernote does OCR (optical character recognition) on handwritten notes, but it does not output that text anywhere that the user can get at it (in part because it keeps a list of various alternatives for what the words might possibly be, so that if your handwriting is as sloppy as mine, and neither another human nor Evernote can tell if you wrote "snuggling" or "smuggling," Evernote will store both in its search database). So, yes, Evernote can FIND handwritten notes, but it does not OUTPUT them as editable text. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 10,359 Posted May 21, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted May 21, 2015 Just to add to @RobertJSawyer's comment a little: I keep some old notebooks of mine in Evernote. I've given each notebooks (and some sections) a typed 'exec summary' paragraph with appropriate keywords, so I can jump to broad headings and use Mk1 eyeballs to scan from there. I can find and read individual pages quickly and accurately. Not to dismiss Evernote's search feature, but my handwriting is definitely the random meanderings of an inebriated arachnid - and I use short words and a lot or acronyms and abbreviations in writing that I wouldn't necessarily think to search for.
