Why was I forced to use Evernote?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm so not tech savvy but I am feeling particularly cross that I did an upgrade on my HTC One and had no choice to keep my original easy to use Notes on my HTC phone. I don't want Evernote, I'm just an older person who doesn't need all the other things that come with Evernote. I just want my Notes back. I hate having to login to use Evernote on my phone. I will probably now not bother though I did use Notes everyday previously. Does anyone feel this way or is just me?

Hi.  I know it's annoying when a supplier forces changes on its customers.  In this case HTC did a deal with Evernote to take over its Notes service.  As Cal suggested you can discuss this with HTC support - they have a link to http://www.htc.com/uk/support/htc-one-mini/howto/381564.html which explains how to find your existing notes.

As far as I can understand it (not an HTC person,  me) the process should be:

  1. On your phone - Go to Settings and click 'Accounts & Sync'
  2. Look for 'Sync Notes with Evernote'.
  3. Click on the 3 dots and you should find an option that says 'Sync now'.
  4. It takes a little while but eventually all your Notes will be in Evernote.

There's also an Evernote article here which may help..  https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#!/article/91208787

Thank you to both for your help and understanding, much appreciated and have now found my HTC Notes. I suppose I was gobsmacked as it's the first time I've been forced to use another app without being advised of this in advance by the current app. It think I'll be finding a basic notes app which suits my purposes rather than Evernote.
