jhaake 0 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Hello all, I had a note that was sensitive and I encrypted it -- and now I do not have it and I want it back. For reasons unknown to me my note that had worked well for many months for some unreported reason went corrupt or something (and I'm not even discounting that it was I that deleted/corrupted the content). But, I was now faced with a completely empty Note (secured by password). No problem -- Evernote's history right -- yep, there it was and I restored it -- only to have the restored copy quickly -- with very normal inquiry type use -- it also magically went corrupt (and empty) -- and repeat that same experience 2 more times. Now I'm worried I'll NEVER get that data back. Anyone have this same experience with encrypted Notes? How did you get around this? EverNote have a support line? Even for a fee?
Level 5* gazumped 12,222 Posted May 2, 2015 Level 5* Posted May 2, 2015 Hi. Not quite sure what's happening here, but it seems that the 'old' encrypted version is being overwritten by a sync from another device that has a current blank copy of that note. If you do recover the old note from history, I'd make sure that the device you're using is the only one currently logged in to that account. Then copy the encrypted content into a new note as soon as you can. If that doesn't work in whatever OS you have, submit a lost data report by choosing "report a bug..." in the first dropdown after logging in here> https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action Premium / Business users also have access to a Chat option (7am-7pm PST weekdays) - click 'continue' on the support page after logging in.
