running in the background

I have EN running on my Samsung S6.  The battery on the S6 is not the best and I have started using a task killer and one of the apps that keep running in the background (even when I don't open it) is EN.

Is there a way to stop this so that I can conserve some battery?

Evernote is like lots of other apps in keeping an eye open in case you need to look up a note or create a new one - the app starts quicker with that assist,  and any messages or reminders can be displayed at an appropriate time.  You can stop the app,  though you may lose some functionality,  but if you don't have Evernote open it uses miniscule amounts of battery power on my S3.  Unless your battery use gets critical I'd let it run as long as you can...
