Windows application should purge out-of-date AutoUpdate files

You'll find a bunch of files in your C:\Users\ <user name> \AppData\Local\Evernote\Evernote\Databases\Attachments folder too - these are the temporary files created by Evernote when you view or edit an attachment.  They can also be deleted.

Used to be that all of the executables for releases stuck in the AutoUpdate folder.  Not anymore, they are purged right after the update.  I didn't make any changes, so don't know why the different behavior.  FWIW.
