Set per note permissions in a shared notebook

Recommended Posts

I recently discovered that using Evernote for project management is awesome. I was a regular Basecamp user but I ditched it for Evernote.

Here are my feature requests.

  1. I have project notebook templates. When I begin a project with a client I would like the ability to easily duplicate one of those template notebooks so that I can use it for the new project.
  2. I would like the ability to make some of the notes in that shared notebook read only and others editable by the person I am sharing with. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing that the client isn't playing around with things she shouldn't be.

That's it for now.

You can handle the first request fairly easily by exporting the contents of the template notebooks to an ENEX file per notebook.  Then whenever you start a new project you can import the notebooks, make any changes you like, and move the notes to your notebook of choice.  You might want to search the forum for discussions on projects and notebooks.  Some opt for the use of tags for projects when they approach the notebook limit.

The second request is not so easy.  Only way I know of is to share two notebooks with the client, one editable and one view only.  Others may have more/better ideas.

When you say "project notebook templates" do you mean a single notebook with specific notes already set up inside it,  or are we talking a notebook stack (several notebooks and their respective notes) for projects in various stages of completion?  It's possible to set up a 'blank' note with a specific format,  title and tags,  and copy it wherever required;  but unfortunately entire notebooks (and their associated notes) don't (yet) copy.  Same -obviously- goes for groups (stacks) of notebooks.
