getting error message re text encoding - no idea?!

I created a note yesterday on my Android tablet.  Updating it today on my Mac,  I'm getting this message:   

 

The file “note.xhtml” couldn’t be saved using text encoding Unicode (UTF-8). If possible, select a different text encoding"

 

I don't have any idea what is "Unicode (UTF-8)"  or how to "select a different text encoding"?  Is this because I inserted some symbols  (light bulbs)  in my note??

Hi.  The editing on your Android doesn't seem to be sitting well with the Mac.  Can you see any of your note content?  Is it just the area where the lightbulbs were that's off-limits?  If you can copy and paste most of your content (excluding the problem areas) into a new note and delete the old one,  I'd do that.  Otherwise try exporting that note to an ENEX file and then re-import it,  which will exclude anything that the desktop finds indigestible.
