EN Premium: recover older versions of notes created in Free app?

Idea

I've been using the free version of Evernote, primarily on my Android phone, but also on my MacBook and iPad. I lost content in one of my notes (I'm guessing my 3 year old erased it?) that I would like to recover. It would be worth it to me to pay the $5 one-month Premium membership if that would give me access to older versions of that existing note. Anyone know if they track changes in the free version that would then be available after buying Premium? Or does the tracking of note changes only start once you're a Premium member?

I'm pretty sure that Evernote does NOT track Note changes (i.e. Note History) until you are a Premium account owner.

If the Notes were just deleted, they should be in the EN Trash, which is shown at the bottom of the Notebook list.

If the Notes are not in the Trash, you will need to rely on your own resources.  Have you been making Time Machine backups of your Evernote data folder?

My understanding is that Evernote does track note histories for everyone, but only Premium members can view the note histories. This is how it was in the past since 2011, but policies change, and I don't know what Evernote does now. You do not have access to support as a free member, so the only way to find out for sure is to pay or hope an employee drops into this thread to answer the question.

Yeah, it would definitely help to hear from Evernote on their policy/practice for Note History.

With over 100M users, and 95%+ of them being FREE accounts, I can certainly understand why they would NOT store Note History until the user becomes a Premium account.  That would be a lot of wasted storage that may (likely?) never be needed.

again, i cannot say what the policy is today, or what it will be tomorrow, but in the past they had note histories for free users. i have no idea how far back they go, but it might even be back to 2010, when they first introduced the feature. here is a link to one case.

I accidentally overwrote all of the data in one of my notes a few weeks ago, and the change got synced to servers (this happened from my iOS device, and I didn't know how to undo a change on it). So I lost all the data from that note.

But I just found out about the Note History feature that Premium users have. I'd like to use it to recover the data from my note. If I upgrade to Premium now, will the Note History have the old data from about a month ago, even though I was a free user at the time?

Yes. If you upgrade to premium, you will have access to previous note history. Note history is only taken once about every eight hours. But if the good note had been on the EN servers at least that long before you sync'd the accidental change, there should be a good copy in the note history. And you will have access to that, after upgrading.
