How to keep skim notes for pdf attachment in Evernote notes?

Every time I open a pdf attachment that is in a note with Skim it is edited on a new copy created in a new folder in ~Library/.../external-edit; instead of the original copy form ~Library/.../content being edited.

Is there a way I can keep skim notes for pdf attachment in Evernote notes?

I encounter this same problem. And the marked up .pdf + .skim notes are no longer accessible via Evernote, I look for them with HoundahSpot

Defeats my purpose in using Evernote for pdfs.

Any ideas what might be happening here?

I might have "solved" it in a labour intensive style: delete the clean (original) copy from the Evernote and attach the above .pdf and .skim, test by marking up the .pdf and yes the new markups are in the .skim and still available after sync. There has to be a better way,

The technique I describe above is not great. Much more reliable to restore .pdfs to a file structure or Zotero.
