Using EVERNOTE for Electronic medical record keeping

My husband is a physician looking for a good way to keep his patient records secure.  He has a Mac office - uses Mac Practice.  The EMR software he currently has is replete with all kinds of issues.  Does anyone know of a good EMR software for an Apple environment?  Could EVERNOTE be used for this purpose?  Thanks!  Ellen

evernote local notebooks would work great, but while that would keep the data secure, it loses access to a huge swath of features.

devonthink is pwerful and probably able to handle just about anything he throws at it. it can also securely sync, which is pretty rare.

i suspect filemaker is best suited for what he does, because it is a relational databas system, but it isn't especially easy to use. this is where he might need to decide between convenience (devonthink) and specialized power (filemaker). filemaker might well be overkill for him.

Please advise him NOT to. I like Evernote, but it's nowhere near to being secure enough for your husband to store other people's highly sensitive information and from a patient's perspective, I view such a move as downright criminal negligence.

HIPPA compliance for a Health Care Professional is too critical an issue to take the risk.  Imagine an Attorney finding out in discovery that you keep confidential patient records on a publically accessible cloud server.  I know I am exaggerating, but if any of you have ever been in a deposition, you know what I am referring to.

I found, via google:

which seems to have positive reviews.
