Can't select multiple notes

Hi I can't select multiple notes in the mac evernote site. I've read that you can just cmd+click but it simply doesn't work I can only select one note at a time.

Make sure you are using the EN Mac app, not the EN Web client running on a browser on your Mac.

Using EN Mac, click on the first Note you want in the Note list.

Then, hold down the CMD key and click on another Note.

Continue the CMD+Click until you have selected all of the Notes you want.

I am new to all of this and having the same problem.  Trouble is, I don't know what the difference in EN Mac app and EN Web client.  I do know that holding down the command key and clicking doesn't work on my Mac.  So I must be in the EN Web place.  How do I get out of that?
