Evernote opens Word documents as "new"

Evernote started doing something new. When I open a word document from Evernote (desktop version) the file opens as a new word document. Now, every time I work on and update a document I have to save it to my computer (again) and then drag and drop it into the note. This problem is preventing the document from being saved and updated in Evernote automatically. 

 

I have the most recent version of Evernote and don't see any updates. I have a Mac running Yosemite.

Hi.  You're opening a copy of the document rather than the original.  Don't know how that's happening,  but what happens if you name the file exactly the same as the original and save it?  Does it save back to the note?

Thank you for your reply. I didn't try that but if the problem happens again I will. Thankfully I haven't had this problem since I posted. Weird, but glad that it resolved.
