Michael Hyatt 17 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I am a Mac user. However, I needed a Windows installation of Evernote for some documentation I am writing. I bought the latest version of Parallels (10.1.2) and installed Windows 8.1. Everything seems to be working fine. However, I can't install Evernote 5.8.1.6061. When I double-click on the Evernote install application, I get a series of error messages. Here is a quick screencast that shows exactly what I am experiencing. Thanks in advance for your help!
Level 5* JMichaelTX 4,119 Posted January 10, 2015 Level 5* Posted January 10, 2015 I don't know for sure, but the problem could be with Win 8.1.I have seen a lot of issues reported in these forums with Evernote running/installing on Win 8 and Win 8.1. I am running Parallels 10.1.2 with Win7 Pro x64 on my Mac Mavericks without any issues, including Evernote.
briancaldwell 202 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 What happens if you right click on the installer and select "install as admin" ?
Michael Hyatt 17 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 I'm afraid that didn't work, Brian. I got the same result. Any other ideas? Thanks.
Michael Hyatt 17 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 I also tried uninstalling both Parallels and Windows. It didn't help. I am still getting the same errors. I am not having trouble installing other apps. For example, I just downloaded and installed Chrome and 1Password.
Kiddokay 6 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Maybe a dumb thing but I have seen issues like this solved by dragging the installer to the desktop of Windows and install from there.
Michael Hyatt 17 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 I'm afraid that didn't work wither, Kiddokay.
Kiddokay 6 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 How frustrating. I am out if clues. Am on OSX just as you. I have Evernote on Windows using VirtualBox for documentation purposes only. Not ideal but it works. Have been using it on Parallel as well but that was some versions ago.
Michael Hyatt 17 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 I am just using it for documentation purposes, too. It's a good reminder of why I switched to OS X. ;-) Actually, I just clicked to Ignore about a dozen error messages and it worked. It is synching now.
Sabine 0 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I had the same problem. The install order seems to be important. Please uninstall the parallels tools and reboot windows. After this please install Evernote. In my case it worked fine. You can reinstall the parallels tools later.
