Option to Highlight Text and "Link to New Note"?

You can link a note to a note, not necessarily just text within a note.

In Windows, right click on the note you want to be linked, select Copy Note Link, and then paste that link into the other note.  This will create a link in the second note to the first.  You have to be careful if you use note links in local notebooks since they will be lost if you ever have to restore a local notebook.

I realize this function exists. I was just wondering if there was a less cumbersome way of doing it.  For example I have a list of class objectives that I would like to easily make a linked note for each objective.  I feel like it would be more logical to be able to highlight something and have a quick option like "link to new note" tin order to easily define things.  Maybe this post would be better placed under a feature request thread.

Could be a feature request, though more detail might help. One last thought, you could create a note foe each objective and then create a table of contents comprised of those notes. FWIW.

I'm no expert, but I do have a premium account. For me, I right click on a note in OSX to get the option "Copy Note Link".  Which can then be pasted in the "Link" option when right clicking highlighted text.

I was just wondering if there is a function that would allow me to do this?  It would save me a ton of time.

There is currently no "Option to Highlight Text and "Link to New Note"".

So this would be a feature request.

However, since you are using EN Mac, it is possible to write a small AppleScript to perform this function.

Using AppleScript and a utility like FastScripts, you could create a KB shortcut to execute the function.

If you are interested in this approach, you can Google "Evernote AppleScript".  Feel free to post back here if you  have any questions.

Windows Desktop

Evernote 5.8.3.6507

Sync was done after creating notes

Trying to link one note to an item in a summary note:

Using the 'normal' procedure, I always get https://

When I use the cntl key (as suggested an earlier article), I get evernote:///view/(lots of numbers, letters, stuff). Not the title of the note I did the 'copy note link' on.

If I add this link to the summary note item, nothing happens.

How do I get this to work?

If you use the standard Copy Note Link functionality you should get a link with the title of the note after you paste into your summary note.  Copy Note Link can be found by right clicking in a list view or going to Note on the menu bar.  This isn't happening for you or isn't exactly what you are seeking?
