autocorrecting when editing text with quotation mark

I have some text like this(it's a line of code):

a = "123"

and sometimes, I need to change the value in the quotation mark. I move cursor before the 2nd mark and delete "123", type new content like 234.

 

Pfff, the first quotation mark changes to 

 

“

, which is not

 

"

 

This makes my code can not run!

Go to Mac System Preferences > Language & Region > Keyboard Preferences... > Text > deselect Correct spelling automatically

 

This turns off auto-correct across your entire desktop.

Same issue here. Hope devs could jump in and fix it. I am not sure if it's a bug but I did try everything I can do (e.g., disable correct spelling automatically, change fonts and etc.). Currently I have to modify my text in online Evernote editor. Thanks.

This is an OS issue.

System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text -> Use smart quotes and dashes

Make sure that checkbox is unchecked.

That's so helpful. Because it did not happen in Sublime Text, Simple text and browser I just assumed it that it was Evernote that was doing it was really annoying as store code snippets in Evernote.
