Unable to backspace to previous line

Basically... After the Evernote UI overhaul, I've been experiencing issues with backspacing to the previous line.

Hitting "Enter" and then backspacing works fine but I cannot backspace check-boxes. With that being said... I can live with having to press the check-box button to remove it so that isn't quite my issue.

My issue is that I cannot backspace to the previous line once removing the checkbox.

This has made Evernote virtually unusable to me as I only use it for making lists. If I cannot remove items without leaving a gap in its place, it defeats the purpose of using an app like this to keep myself organized.

I'm using version 6.3 and my phone is a Nexus 5 running 4.4.4 KitKat.

If anyone has any tips on how to rectify this, I'd appreciate it.

Note: This issue has been reoccurring for the last 6-7 updates. I've already cleared my cache, deleted system data and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. I've also tried making another note to see if it was just one note that was affected. All to no avail.
