Web clipper in Safari - no internet connection

I noticed that I can't sign into my evernote web clipper on safari anymore (safari 8.0.2 on mac 10.10.1). Every time I try to sign in, the warning sign for "no internet connection" pops up. I've read about this problem in firefox but not really in Safari. I tried to remove the web clipping extension and re-installing it, but it did not solve the problem. Anyone know how to fix it?

I am also really frustrated, because the webclipper does not work for me anymore for  safari (safari 8.0.2 on mac 10.10.1)
