How do I change the default font size?

Evernote has been really frustrating as of late, with notes showing up empty and whatnot, and now I'm unable to change the default font size.

 

14 is way too small for me, yet whenever I change to 18, deleting an entire line causes the current font to revert to 14. So I thought it would be an easy matter of just changing the default font. Nope.

I go into Preferences>Formatting>Note text and select the "Select" button to choose my font. It just opens up a little font dialog box with a big selection of fonts. But it doesn't actually let me choose anything, the default Evernote font doesn't change.

Are you editing an existing note when this happens?  Try creating a brand new note.  An existing note might contain hidden coding which is overwriting your font settings..
