Note disappeared after upgrading to 6.0.3 on Mac

I upgraded to Evernote 6.0.3 on my Mac (OS 10.10.1) with a Premium account.  One of my notes (a very important one!!!) disappeared completely.  It is not in my Trash.  Someone suggested looking via note history.  But, if I don't have a note in the first place, how can I do that?  Help! How can I retrieve this note?

First, try a restart of your Mac.  This seems to fix a number of problems.

If your Note still doesn't appear, you may need to give Evernote some time to complete reindexing.

This varies from hours up to a day.

I've restarted my Mac, and it is now well over 24 hours since I upgraded.  Still no note.  Any other suggestions?

Shouldn't there be an automatic safe backup system for Evernote notes???

Sadly there's no alternative backup system unless you kept one yourself with Time Machine or some such.  If you do have a backup from which you can restore your Evernote files,  that's the reliable option.  If you have another device that hasn't synced with Evernote since the update,  you might be able to recover a version of the note.  But if the changes since update have synced across the system,  and a restart/ reindex hasn't recovered your note,  then we're well outside my comfort zone.  I can only suggest you contact Evernote Support and raise this as a bug report.  The support team should be able to help you.
