Changing Email to a deactivated account

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I have two accounts, lets say Acct1 and Acct2. Of course they have different email right? So I deactivated the Acct2 and tried to change the email in Acct1 to the email at Acct2.

I used word tried because it did not work. It still says that is already being used. But when I log in with Acct2 the page would say that it is deactivated.

Thoughts?

You cannot point two accounts at the same email address.

However, if your email is a gmail account, you may be able to game the system by adding punctuation to the email user name. For example, if your email were johndoe@gmail.com, then the email john.doe@gmail.com is considered to be the same email address by Gmail, but last time I checked, these are considered to be different by Evernote.

Even if you deactivate your account, your email address will still be associated with it. Try reactivating, changing your email address, and deactivating again. Once you've done this you should be able to use the email address on the new account.

You can use these instructions to update your email address: https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#!/article/24935568

Good solution.. That will work...

A second option is leaving the account de-activated.... (also all notes must be deleted in that account- you can back them up before if you like so you can transfer them to new account)

Contact Evernote support here from the accounts email it is you want to delete: https://evernote.com/contact/support/

And Request that the account be permanently deleted.

Complete instructions here: https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#!/article/23403793

P.S. Note to Charboyd

The support staff were very professional when I deleted my first account... However the ticket process was ridiculous.

I had accidentally put sensitive information in my previous account... And took a disproportionately long time to get deleted completely.

Surely as users it is our RIGHT to delete, completely, any personal information  we put on Evernote... Quickly, Efficiently, and without needing to contact Support... We need independence in controlling the information we put up in evernote, and taking it down.

This system needs to change...
