Cannot view notes in Evernote application

I cannot see the content of my notes for some reason in evernote - only when I switch to presentation view which is well cumbersome. I updated the Evernote mac application the other day to the new 'enhanced' version for Mac OS X Yosemite - it all worked fine until today? Anyone got a fix or even experiencing the same issues?

And before you do this: create a backup especially of your local notebooks!!!!!

 

A reboot sometimes helps as well.
