(Archived) Check boxes behave badly

webzilla

Idea

Checkboxes are ill-mannered, viz:

(1) Once you insert a checkbox, you cannot delete it.

(2) Associated with this, you cannot insert the cursor to the right of the checkbox.

(3) And of course this means that, after a checkbox is inserted, should you clear the text following it, you can't place new text there, the checkbox stands alone on its line.

In Windows, checkboxes:

(1) Once you insert a checkbox, you can delete it.

(2) Associated with this, you can insert the cursor to the right of the checkbox.

(3) After a checkbox is inserted, should you clear the text following it, you can place new text there.

As a workaround pending a fix, I find you can usually delete checkboxes using a forward delete (ie. Fn + delete).

I can see how people are getting annoyed by this kind of thing. It seems to me that in general Evernote prioritises collection and search over note production. The note editor is really pretty limited and flaky (just compare to Onenote, for example). A nice gap for a 3rd party developer to fill, methinks?
