You won't lose notes.  Just download the latest version (ideally from Evernote.com) and uninstall/ reinstall.  Backup your Evernote database first..

EN Mac Folder/Database location:

  • menu Evernote Mac > About Evernote
  • Hold down the OPTION key to reveal the link to your EN Account folder
  • backup files.

Gaz, that's a great idea generally, but unfortunately won't work if you can't open the EN Mac app, as the above two posters have stated.

I think the EN Mac 5.7 database is in the same location as Ver 5.6:

Evernote for Mac 5.6 now has your:

  • database folder located in: ~/Application Support/com.evernote.Evernote
  • log folder located in: ~/Application Support/com.evernote.Evernote/logs

So has anyone tried this.  Unfortunately I ran into the same trouble.  I am not IT savvy so I'm uncertain what to do.  All I know is right now I can't do anything with evernote and I get the error that I can't open the application because it may be damaged or incomplete.
