sort notes by notebook feature

Does anybody understand how the notes are sorted when you select to sort them by notebook?

 

I have only one notebook (I do not need more than one). I do not like the snippet view when I sort by "Recently Updated" and I prefer the list view when I sort by notebook, however I do not understand what logic does it use to sort the notes.

It's only sorting by notebook, I haven't figured out any pattern to any sub-sorting that's going on.It's entirely possible that there is none.
