lagamine 0
I'm aware you cannot backup your data locally without a premium account... So if I can't backup my own data, do the Evernote servers create backups? I've heard of people losing notes etc. Are they recoverable? I was considering using this program for my work but not if I'm at risk losing it... Link to comment

One of Evernote's rules: your data is yours. On desktop clients, you can back up using export commands, and you can back up to several formats. Evernote's servers serve as backups, and as a hub for syncing to other devices. The servers do maintain some note history, and you can get notes back, if you need to, but it's not set up to be a real versioning system. I have heard of users losing notes, but it hasn't happened to me. I also back up my note databases (I have two accounts) semi-regularly. Link to comment
Level 5* JMichaelTX 4,118 Posted October 23, 2014 Level 5* Share Posted October 23, 2014 All desktop users (Win and Mac) can backup/export/archive all of their Notes. While Evernote may backup their Cloud servers, these backups are NOT available to end users.Don't rely on Evernote for your backup. Make your own backups frequently, at least daily. I backup my EN Mac notes on an hourly basis using Mac Time Machine. Link to comment

Ex Employees charboyd 272 Posted October 23, 2014 Ex Employees Share Posted October 23, 2014 If you are curious about Evernote's privacy policy, you can always find it detailed here: https://evernote.com/legal/privacy.php It is always a good idea to create a back up of any work. A Mac will automatically create purgatory files, but you can manually archive work on Mac and Windows with these Knowledge Base instructions: https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#!/article/28607737 Link to comment
