Searching post-it notes fails

I just learnt how to take a photo of  post-it notes. However, I have hard time searching for text from these notes within Evernote. Writing very big on the post-it with a Sharpie works sometimes, but regular writing never becomes "searchable". What can I do to make this post-it note thing to work?

To get the best results - obviously - write as clearly as you can;  black ink / light background and avoid strong lines or patterns.  Photograph or scan the note in good light and on a contrasting background. 

 

Edit:  -and are you using the Document Camera?
