guilap 0
Is there a way to ignore accents when searching in EverNote, like Google does? So that I could find notes with the content (or tag) "acentuação" only by typing "acentuacao". That's Portuguese, but a lot other languages (like Spanish, French...) have these. Link to comment
engberg 89
On the web, and on mobile devices which search via the web servers, we do a "diacritic-insensitive" search that handles accents the way that you describe. We don't yet do that on the desktop clients, but plan to add that soon. Thanks Link to comment

Level 5* GrumpyMonkey 4,320 Posted August 13, 2013 Level 5* Share Posted August 13, 2013 On the web, and on mobile devices which search via the web servers, we do a "diacritic-insensitive" search that handles accents the way that you describe. We don't yet do that on the desktop clients, but plan to add that soon. Thanks Unfortunately, I tried a search on the web for the word "Λογιστηριο" when the exact word in my note is "Λογιστήριο" and the search returned no result. The word is in Greek. Interesting. On the Mac, if Λογιστήριο is in my notes, it will find and highlight it no matter if I put Λογιστήριο or Λογιστηριο in the search field. However, if I put quotation marks around the words, it will find and highlight Λογιστήριο (when it is the word being searched), but will only find the note that Λογιστήριο is in if "Λογιστηριο" is in the search field. That seems like a bug to me. It either is or it isn't in the note, right? But, the fact that there is a distinction being made suggests that maybe the index has Λογιστηριο in it, but when it comes time to highlight the word, the app cannot find Λογιστήριο as an exact match. Anyhow, if you could describe in more detail the variations of behavior you are finding on the Web, it might help the developers see what is happening. Please note that Dave posted that comment four years ago, so things may well have changed quite a bit. Link to comment
