help :- lost note , no undo function, nothing in trash folder

I have acidentally deleted a note -and i cant undo it

 

i could not find a trash folder on ipad so i logged in on my laptop and found a trash folder.

but the trash folder was empty so where has the note got to ?

You should find the "Trash" on iPad  under the NB list.  You can think of it as a special kind of NB that holds your deleted Notes until you empty the Trash.  The Trash "NB" is sync'd across all your devices if the Notes were originally in a sync'd NB.

 

If you don't find the deleted Notes in the Trash on your iPad or other devices, then the Notes are probably lost, unless you have a backup some where.

This function is SORELY missing in Evernote. CONFIRM DELETE, HISTORY (and previous versions) of notes should be an option, and one that is ON by DEFAULT.  I have now on more than one occasion accidentally deleted a note. What "saved" me is that the Evernote app on another device hadn't been synced yet (luckily I noticed those deletions right away).  I found the note(s) on the other device, changed it slightly., and re-synced.

 

Why would Evernote have us "living in terror" of accidentally deleting a note (again, there's no "confirm delete" button, geez) when adding that button AND some form of Undo, plus versioning, would be such a help? 

 

Once you become a heavy Evernote user, it's only a matter of time before something gets inadvertently deleted.  'nuff said (for now).

"living in terror" is excessively flamboyant, but if that is really your view, there are some solutions. 

 

1.) The current Evernote workaround solution is to regularly backup your data.

 

I've been using Evernote for 6 years and have over 30,000 notes. I have run into many Evernote bugs and crashes, but I have never lost a note, thanks to a rotating set of recent backups.

 

2.) A limited form of versioning is available for Premium users - from the web version, go to specific note, select Info and look at the History.  

 

"Several times each day, Evernote makes a copy of any notes in your account that have changed since the last time the system checked. This page allows you to view and export these previous versions of your notes. This feature is oonnly available to Premium users."

 

3.) Perhaps you will eventually see full versioning capability.

 

Evernote's recently publicized a major shift in their vision to move away from consumers and concentrate on corporate users. As you can see in this article below, the Evernote CEO seems very keen on replacing Microsoft Word.

.. Regularly backup your data...  Nice.  Except that this simple action isn't automated either within Evernote.  BTW I am indeed a Premium subscriber,  and expect more.  Evernote: time to concentrate less on the gee-wiz and spend some time on data integrity and security.

Well, as I said in #3.), you might get your wish sometime.

 

Until that time arrives, to avoid living in terror:

you either need to do backups, or 

you need to stop accidentally deleting your notes and your trash.

Agreed. And I do make regular backups now; forewarned is forearmed and all that. But this is the 21st century, last time I looked. These features should not be considered afterthoughts, if you want to play with the big boys.
