Sync OneNote with Evernote

I have just purchased a MS Surface and would like to use the stylus handwriting option for my notes. I can only use the stylus ion OneNote so is there any way to sync OneNote notes into Evernote?

You can import OneNote notes into Evernote very easily.

Menu: File/import/Microsoft Onenote

You will then have to indicate which section you want to import. It will import all the notes from that section. If you don't want to import all the notes from that section, you can copy or move the relevant notes to a new section that will thus contain only notes that you want to import into Evernote.

Sorry to jump in Pete, but just to clarify a bit...

This will create *copies* of whatever you import, but it will *not* sync between Evernote (EN) to Onenote and vice versa. Once you have successfully imported whatever data you want to keep in Evernote, you can then Sync to the EN servers.

You state ".... you can then Sync to the EN servers" ( as per red part in text above) means synching between the various devices with EN installed. It does not mean you can sync between En & 1N.

Sorry about the asteriks in my post above. The word that is "asterisked" is also used to designate a certain part of the female anatomy.

I am always amazed at the Americans' ambiguity. They are 1st class prudes by refusing to show anything that has to do with the human anatomy, whether in pictures or words, yet they have no problem showing the most horrific violence in great graphic detail in the media or on TV, even at an hour when young children can see it. Even a business like Evernote follows that warped philosophy. I am stunned.

No worries, I understood! And yeah, same thing happens here in Canada, though not to the degree it does south of us. Of course we have our own bible belt that seems to have the same crazy morality scale. I have friends and relatives who identify us super religious, but glorify war. I'm the odd, evil duck. What with being an atheist and all...

Just to clarify the clarifications ( ) the Forum Nanny software is third-party stuff,  outside anyone's control - being public forum stuff I think its deliberately set to 11 on any word that might be remotely offensive to any tom,  dick or harry...  (Interestingly the notification emails give you the text in full..)

 

Edit:  it appears it misses some words that might cause a snigger in Europe - I meant to get asterisked,  and failed miserably.  ******!

If that is the criterion then they should include religious, political & many other words; there would be no end to it.

You are correct. I try to be a polite person, but as an American, I feel offended by out-of-context body-part/function references, because they seem to be intended to be disrespectful, whereas random references to violence are such a mundane thing that they don't register in my mind. Real violence would offend me greatly, but I don't comprehend the European response to violence, nor do I understand why that would have something to do with children. Do Europeans imagine talking about violence incites violence? I think we have a whole continent that demonstrates that's not so. Of course, I tend to forget that Europeans also tend to think the US is like the "wild west" seen in "Cowboys v. Aliens." (The era of herding cattle great distances died with the establishment of State boarders between Texas and Kansas.)

However, I'm still trying to figure out whether I can use cortana in Windows 10, or if I need to switch to using Chrome entirely so that I can dictate notes to Evernote, and make use of all the Evernote integration between other apps I have become dependent upon over the past six years, without having to get my experience "muddied" by having to use, Edge, or OneNote, none of which simply do what my current suite of Ok,Google, Chrome, Evernote, my phone conversation transcription software and Gmail accomplish for me effortlessly. 

I either want to replace Cortana with "Ok, Google," or I want Cortana to work with Evernote by default. (Duplicating in Evernote would be fine also, as long as those extraneous One Note records pose no security issues.

Hi.  Still effectively the same answer - OneNote has an Evernote importer,  and Evernote has a OneNote importer,  though last time anyone posted on that it seemed not to work.  It should be theoretically possible for you to 'mirror' one account on the two platforms.  BUT the layout and operation of both is very different,  and I suspect that if you imported a note from one to the other and then back again it would not be the same note.

You can most definitely not currently  sync two accounts together,  though if a developer somewhere decided this was a good idea it would be possible to write a very specialised transfer app to do that.  Given that you'd (so far) be the only customer though...

If you, like the OP, just wish to use a stylus, there are better app alternatives than using OneNote as an external app for pen input. Drawboard PDF is one.

I am using Windows client 6.4.2.3788.

I am trying to important  Onenote files.

After I select the notebook to import and click OK, nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

thanks for your answer. why then does the Windows client have a built-in Important/One Note Files tool?  That gives me the impression that it will do an intelligent conversion of a .one into an Evernote Notebook or series of Notes.

I've no idea whether that still works.  Microsoft have upgraded OneNote quite a lot since 2014 when this thread started,  and while Evernote tried (I think) to keep pace with the changes,  MS is a competitor.  I wouldn't dream of suggesting that MS have in any way made it difficult for folks to get their data exported to another note-taking app,  but I'd be pretty sure they don't share formats with Evernote to allow them to build their own exporter - while Evernote's data formats are open source and anyone can,  and a few people have built note importers based on  that information.  Including Microsoft.  I'd guess Evernote will either fix their importer at some point,  or remove it from the menu;  but for the moment there's not much help to offer if it won't work.

I had a quick look at the linked page,  and CloudHQ's pricing.  It certainly looks like that should be possible,  but depending on use it might cost you an annual fee - there are limits on some transfers,  like email.  Best people to ask would be them..
