Frank.dg 1,385 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I'd love to see an Evernote FORUM [edited] mobile app... for iOS, Android, whatever. That would be super convenient. Any thoughts on that from other forum users?
Evernote Expert Sugeeth Krish 476 Posted September 13, 2014 Evernote Expert Posted September 13, 2014 Maybe.. i misunderstood what you tried to say.. but evernote mobile apps exist for all platforms.. right?
Wordsgood 526 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yes they do exist! I'm typing this from my Android phone.
Frank.dg 1,385 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 I don't find anything in the Apple store. I'm not talking about a web app. I'm talking about a full on app that I can receive push notifications for... Badge App Icon, sounds, lock screen and Notification Center Alerts etc... not that all of these features are necessary. An email alert does the trick... but I'm talking about an app itself that I can download. If there is one in the app store, I'm just not seeing it. If not, it's the difference between accessing Facebook via a browser on iOS vs accessing Facebook via an app. I have access to the forum on all of my devices via web... but I have a feeling that an actual app could be kind of nice. More convenient :-)

Any thoughts on that from other forum users? Sorry... I forgot the Key word here. I'm not that smart. I meant to ask (and include as a title for this post) about an "Evernote FORUM [edited] mobile app". Haha, I'm wanting to kick the idea around of having a mobile app for accessing the forum, instead of following an email link to the forum via the Safari browser. Sorry for the confusion!
Bill Myers 496 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Evernote does have a "full on app" for both iOS and Android: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/evernote/id281796108?mt=8 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evernote&hl=en
Level 5* tavor 668 Posted September 13, 2014 Level 5* Posted September 13, 2014 A forum app would be nice.
Bill Myers 496 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 You added your clarification just about five seconds before I replied. I don't believe there is an Evernote forum app for any mobile device.
Frank.dg 1,385 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 My apologies Bill, Panzerkampfwagen and Wordsgood. The topic title and my 1st (and 2nd) post do not hint at all about a FORUM app. I dropped the ball there.
Level 5* Metrodon 2,188 Posted September 13, 2014 Level 5* Posted September 13, 2014 Tapatalk might work. In the past it has and it hasn't.

John in Michigan USA 140 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Possible solutions:The forum content could be distilled into shared notebooks such as those done by spgscott athttps://discussion.evernote.com/topic/42324-my-new-shared-notebook-and-updated-enreged/ or more directly:https://www.evernote.com/pub/spgscott/evernote5help Maybe someone smarter than me could automate the process of converting a topic into an EN note or notebook? In Chrome for Android on Nexus 7 (7 inch screen) set to "old man mode" (large fonts, etc) this forum displays reasonably well. Most browsers have a feature (or add-on) that will save offline copies of URLs or even whole sites, and keep them synced.
gbarry 2,659 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Hmmm, there used to be a native IOS app from our forum vendors, Invision Power Board. It looks like it's gone now--it used to be under "IPB Mobile". I wonder if they had to remove it ahead of their Version 4.0 launch. We disabled Tapatalk awhile ago because the plugin encouraged users to purchase Tapatalk, and there was no way to disable the ad while maintaining the functionality. So we yanked it. Better mobile functionality for this space (and seamless connectivity from our apps to this space) is on the to do list.

gbarry 2,659 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 FWIW, it's my view that it is essential, and that right now we're delivering a relatively poor experience for lack of really strong mobile options for working in the forum. This isn't an easy thing to fix without significant investment, but it's something that we're exploring options for.

This isn't an easy thing to fix without significant investment, but it's something that we're exploring options for.I don't see why significant investment is necessary. Thousands of forums use Tapatalk. And if this forum is technically capable of using Tapatalk (some forum designs are simply incompatible), that seems like the easy option. We disabled Tapatalk awhile ago because the plugin encouraged users to purchase Tapatalk, and there was no way to disable the ad while maintaining the functionality. So we yanked it.An ad to purchase Tapatalk is the reason EN abandoned the tool that thousands of forums use for mobile access? How many of us use google, gmail, yahoo mail, not to mention tens of thousands of mobile apps, etc.? Lots of free services are advertising funded and many users have no issue with that. Why not put it up to a vote by the users? Or at least re-enable Tapatalk while EN finds a more suitable replacement? Users who have a problem with the ad won't use Tapatalk (and will be no worse off than they are now), while users who don't mind ignoring the ad get to use what you are describing as an essential feature. It's a Pareto optimal solution until EN develops their ideal solution.
