Can I have a note that belongs to two different notebooks and will sync whichever notebook I access it from? In one word: NO Each Note can belong to one, and only one, Notebook. If you are trying to associate more than one category with a Note, use TAGS.
MMMM 0 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 OK, thanks. Too bad because it could be useful: imagine I share notes with say my 2 students, that they can each individually and solely access, but I have some notes I want to share and update with both at once; the only solution would be to create a 3rd notebook shared with both. But that would not work easily if I have say 50 students and 50 combinations of 1 to 50 of them...

But maybe you have a rare situation. Some alternatives:Share one NB per student for notes only that student should see. Share one common NB with all students for notes that all should see. Share individual notes with only one student for all other cases. We never know what Evernote will do next, but, IMO, it is unlikely they will ever change to allowing multiple NB per note.
Level 5* gazumped 12,217 Posted September 12, 2014 Level 5* Posted September 12, 2014 ..just to add to the above, it is possible to copy a note so that several copies exist in different notebooks; the copies are not connected however (unless you include a note link in the original that points back to itself) so edits would have to be re-copied out to other notebooks. Not impossible to manage if you keep one notebook for originals and edit notes there, then copy out to other shared notebooks...
Level 5 jbenson2 2,149 Posted September 12, 2014 Level 5 Posted September 12, 2014 It is not technically sharing, but what I do is right click on the note and copy the note link. Then paste it into a new note (into another notebook, if needed) The link will bring me back to the original note.
Wordsgood 526 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Hi. There's a couple forum threads I strongly recommend you have a look through as they have a lot of really interesting ideas that you might find useful. The first is one started by another teacher. She has put together a public notebook with all kinds of resources and her own tips for using Evernote in teaching. Just click on any the links posted by her and other users who left comments:https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/64692-getting-started-guide-for-teachers/#entry301528/The second is a long thread about the various pros and cons of using Tags. Various users have posted use case examples:The Benefit of Using Tags:https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/57740-the-benefit-of-using-tags/?view=getnewpost/Cheers! ☺
