Charleston Tomato 0
I have frequently done a search, which identifies a number of notes. But when I use search within some of those notes to find the same term, it's "not found" in some of the individual notes. I just did a test by downloading one of the pdf documents that had the term and using adobe's search. Sure enough, the term WAS in the document. How can I accurately search within the document? Wordsgood 526
Searching within documents is a Premium and Business feature. Link to comment
DutchPete 247
If you click Ctrl F, you get a small search bar at the bottom of the note. You can use that to search for a word within the note. This works for Evernote Windows, just like for any other windows app. Link to comment
Charleston Tomato 0
Yes, that's what I do to search within the note. Strangely, even though it found the search term and identified the note as having it, the Command F search (I'm on a mac) doesn't find it! Link to comment
bdumais15 1
Anybody ever answer this one? Same problem here- I do a general global search for all notes containing a word- EN provides me the list of notes- I open an individual note, CMND-F, search the term I'm looking for, and nothing- even though in my test case the very first page I was looking at had the word (practically under the search box which came up empty.) Level 5* CalS 5,310 Posted February 13, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted February 13, 2015 If it is a note containing a PDF, go to the Info drop down and see if it shows that the attachment has been indexed. I don't believe CMND-F in a note searches the attachments in the note. Attachments are searched through global search. EDIT: This is not the case. CMND-F or Ctrl-F when executed in a note do search the contents any PDFs in the note. Link to comment
Level 5* JMichaelTX 4,118 Posted February 13, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted February 13, 2015 I don't believe CMND-F in a note searches the attachments in the note. Attachments are searched through global search. I'm running EN Mac 6.0.6, and CMD-F *does* search/find the specified text in PDFs attached to that Note. Link to comment
Level 5* CalS 5,310 Posted February 13, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted February 13, 2015 Wow, random act of violence here. Some do and some don't, though the majority do. The first couple I tried didn't, and they showed as being indexed. Weird on a good day. Link to comment

The first couple I tried didn't, and they showed as being indexed. Weird on a good day. Wow! That is very scary! I hope you will submit a BUG report on this. Search already has known problems of producing consistent results across platforms/clients.And now, it is inconsistent even within one platform client. A unreliable, inconsistent Search is of little value to me because I can't trust the results. The main thing that we are relying on Evernote for, our "external brain" is failing us. This is just one more reason I don't rely on a general text search as my primary search, and I use Tags and Title search instead. Link to comment
Level 5* CalS 5,310 Posted February 14, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted February 14, 2015 Yeah, not sure what happened. Amazing that I picked a couple of PDF only notes at random and Ctrl-F in the note didn't highlight in the PDF. Could be the OCR didn't catch the word I typed, who knows at this point. I'm going to skip the bug report, a - can't reproduce it, b - could be user error. No illusions of perfection on my end. Link to comment
