RainbowSharkling 6 Posted August 30, 2014 Share Posted August 30, 2014 I've just installed Evernote desktop on my new windows 8 laptop, a 13 inch lenovo yoga 2 pro. Almost everything is miniscule, and I can't find any zoom function or way to change the text size (other than editing the notes to alter the font size, which isn't practical). A brief google suggests there is no such feature?! Grateful if anyone has any suggestions, but I'm really disappointed right now because I've been using Evernote for several years and this problem is making it absolutely totally unusable on my new laptop. I've tried the Evernote touch app for windows 8, which has limitations that I'm sure I don't need to enumerate here and additionally seems very unstable. I'm temporarily resorting to using the website to access my note collection, but that doesn't seem sustainable in the long term. Link to comment

Evernote UI Designers: Please take into account that in today's world the "desktop" ver of Evernote will be used on a wide variety of computers, from laptops with very small screens (like a MBA-11) to true desktops with multiple screens. Please give us users control over both the text size for the various screens/windows, but also for a zoom feature which enlarges the entire window but does not change the content text size. Specifically, Mac used to have font control for the interface text and now it doesn't. Given that it seems people have been requesting it 2+ years, presumably it is not going to happen soon either. It's not even like I have vision problems - I'm 27 and have perfectly good sight. The text is genuinely bafflingly unreadably miniscule. Onenote here I come I guess? Link to comment
justdisa 1 Posted November 21, 2014 Share Posted November 21, 2014 I've been trying to get someone to fix this for a year and a half. I am visually impaired. Evernote does not, as far as I can tell, care about accessibility. Not only are the system fonts tiny, but with the Windows desktop version released at the end of 2013, the default size of all my old notes changed to the system default and I cannot change it back. Thousands of notes no longer available to me. Link to comment

z'evernoter 1 Posted March 1, 2015 Share Posted March 1, 2015 Another workaround: using CloudHQ, sync Evernote with Google Drive. The sync can render your evernote files as PDFs, which are zoomable (and so viewable) and easily annotatable on my Surface. It works - the PDF rendering is better than one could expect - but it is not ideal, as the intelligent search capabilities of Evernote (and your tags) are lost in the translation. You can retain some structure, though, as your notebooks will become subdirectories. As a long-time Evernote Premium subscriber, I too am frustrated. (And I find myself increasingly irritated as Evernote focuses on marketing hipster schlock rather than fixing its core service and satisfying its core customers). Link to comment

Not sure if this is a new feature in evernote but all I do is: - Select all the text in the note- right click on selection and- click on Simplify Formatting Works for me. Even simpler, if you want to simplify the formatting for an entire note, you don't even have to select the text first to simplify the formatting. Just hit: Ctrl+Spacebar from within the note.(If you do have a selection made in the note editor, Ctrl+Spacebar only simplifies formatting within that selection.)But I wholeheartedly agree with the original poster that a method for zooming / reflowing text is needed. You shouldn't have to LOOSE FORMATTING (which is what simplify formatting does, by stripping out some of the HTML of the note) simply to easily SEE THE CONTENTS. Link to comment

This is a hair-raising lack in the Windows evernote application. It seems many people feel the same, so please just implement it. I often use the web version of Evernote simply so I can zoom my notes; it's a stunning oversight to not have such functionality in the desktop client. One gets the impression that all the Evernote programmers are 14-year-olds: they have perfect eyesight (and so don't mind minuscule text), they love bright things (hence the glaring white backgrounds everywhere), and they have no depth of experience with all the text editors and other applications that have preceded the one they wrote, and so are blissfully unaware that many older programs did more things, or did things better, than their program does. I've found out Evernote has Web Access so I log there and just zoom in and out with my browser, And the interface is beautiful! (-:This is not an acceptable solution. The reason I use the clearly extension is to read the article text. If I have to zoom in and out then might as well leave it in the browser. I am able to change the font size and make it sticky in Readablilty... Starting to have doubts about the long term viability of Evernote. Link to comment

This pretty basic feature which hasn't been addressed for the Windows platform. So yet another customer lost because I have to switch to OneNote so I can SEE WHAT I'M DOING! Frustrating?? YES! OneNote is FREE, is available as the full application, as an App, and works across windows, android, and all browsers I've tried thus far. That said, EverNote has some nice features, but none of them mean much if I can't see anything. Link to comment

A basic Zoom facility has now hit the release version. Ctrl + Ctrl - Ctrl 0 It doesn't remember the Zoom level, but it's better than nothing. Make sure you keep the "Ctrl" key held down while you press the other key. Conversely, to reduce the size, press "Ctrl" and the "-" key (next to the plus key). This works in Firefox for Windows of various versions, and I believe for other browsers as well. This trick works for ANY webpage you visit. Give it a try....it's simple and easy! Link to comment

Many of the suggestions including my own has been a suggestion for the APPLICATION. Not using the browser based interface. Using the App, especially on smaller mobile devices, provides the greatest functionality. However, if one cannot use it because it's so freakin tiny, then said app is of zero use. Since this has been a long standing open issue, I and many others have switched to OneNote. Done. Finished. Kaput. Link to comment
