Checked items drop to bottom

Recommended Posts

Hi. Unfortunately no there is not. And Evernote does not share their roadmap. If it's any comfort, this request has been made before and your Evernote does read all the posts so you can count yours as a feature request. (Though please note that they rarely, if ever, respond to forum threads.)

Is there a way yet to have checked items drop to the bottom of a note? If not, is it in the works. This would be immensely useful fore me.

I don't think I ever responded to your response! Thanks for taking the time. I recently talked to their support team about another matter and they put in a featured request for this topic when I put it in, whatever that is.  This is actually the most important function for what I do, ironic. Seems inevitable they'll deal with it. Take care.

Actually, it would be surprising to me if they did add this functionality, with their current format. The notion of "drop to the bottom" or "drop to the bottom of a note" is kind of simplistically specified. Yes, they could drop the item to the bottom of the note (though they generally do not provide operations that move text around, aside from explicit ones like cut/paste) -- but is that always appropriate? What if the todos are in a list (bulleted or numbered)? I use notes like these a lot, with supporting information below the main checklist; I wouldn't want to-do's dropping below the supporting information. Should the to-do drop to the bottom of the list rather than the bottom of the note? What if the list has several levels? Should drop to the bottom of its current level? So yes, then you could app options to govern the behavior in certain situations, but Evernote seems to prefer to keep options down to a minimum.

But you never know; Evernote could add this, though it doesn't seem to fit with their usual design strategies. You might try looking at their reminder facility instead, which probably comes closer to what you want. You just need to have one to-do per reminder note, which may or may not line up with your use case.

The Evernote of yore claimed they did not want to be (yet another) task list manager and that they did not want to modify your notes.  (Which is why when EN OCR'd your docs, a secondary document was created rather than modifying the original.)  So I agree with Jefito in that this would probably not be something rolled out.  But my experience with Evernote in the past year is that EN is now a moving target...no one really knows what they will roll out, even if it goes against past, publicly proclaimed stances.
