Lagginess in Evernote for mac

I've been using EN for four years now, and have quite a few notes (3407). I find these days that it's laggy - it especially takes a long time to open. I'm not sure if it's been like this for 6 months or a year, but a long time. Is it just that I have a lot of notes? I'm sure there are many people out there with far more than I.

 

The latest posts I've found with slowness issues are a year old, so I'm guessing it's not a widespread problem.

 

I have a late 2011 13" mac pro running latest 10.9, and 2x2 GB of memory.

I haven't noticed this myself, database is about 3gb with 1200 notes. I have an 8-core Mac Pro 12gb ram, and a 13" rMBP 8gb Ram, both with solid state drives. I am running either Evernote 5.5.x or 5.6 beta 3 depending on the system. 

 

It may not be a bad time try deleting your local database, uninstalling Evernote, and installing the latest version. 

Just make sure you have backups and make especially sure any Local Notebooks are exported so you can reimport them.
