Freezes briefly when I type search term

I am a long term Evernote user. For a few months, when I type terms into the search window, it freezes after a few characters. Then, maybe 5 - 10 seconds later, it resumes. However, this is really bothersome. I notice this on multiple of my PCs running different versions of Windows. Is anyone else experiencing this and is there anything I can do?
