Syncing problem

mathiepe

Idea

Today I'm having a few strange issues synchronizing between Macbook, iPad and iPhone. A few notes made on iPhone are added on the Macbook, but remain invisible (neither counted along) on the iPad even after synchronization. Earlier today, another thing happened: a note created on iPhone and edited on Mac, didn't bring the changes made back on the iPhone. Anyone else experiencing problems?

I had a major sync problem yesterday with the Evernote Windows Client - every sync attempt resulted in a "Synchronization failure" message. The problem lasted from early morning until 7pm.  As soon as it worked, I quickly made another backup.

I submitted a Support Request yesterday. They are analyzing my Activity Log right now.

Is it just me, or does it seem like to you guys that there have been a lot of reports recently about sync issues?

I haven't had any issues myself (that I'm aware of), and I allow a certain number of these issues are due to user error.

But still, it gives me cause for concern.

Sync MUST be rock solid.  In the Evernote world it is the equivalent of saving your data.

Evernote, are you giving these sync issues your full attention?   I hope so.

The forums are a great place to start with troubleshooting a sync issue: https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#!/article/23168822

Before I could submit my support request for the sync problem, I had to review the above mentioned list first.

By the way, I believe the last comment is wrong. I tried to include my Activity Log (Evernote_5.4.1.4027_20140708.log) but it had trouble accepting the file. It seems that the initial web request is restricted to the following files (.txt, .jpg, .png, .pdf) After Support contacted me, I was able to use GMail to send them the Activity Log.

Also, the Support Request page has changed since yesterday. The big obvious link to submit a request is gone and reduced to a small "contact us" link in the lower right corner of the page. It took me a while to figure out what had happened.

Charboyd, I disagree with your self-proclaimed "Best Answer".  It puts all of the responsibility back on the user.

If the user has reported sync issues with the EN Support Ticket, the "best answer" would be that you guys are taking sync issues very seriously, and are working hard to resolve all of them.

Perhaps you meant the "Knowledge Base" instead of "forums" is a great place to start.

I do like that you list a few KB articles for common issues.  Many companies list potential solutions AFTER the user has initially submited a support request.  If you asked for the user to check broad categories of issues, you could initially respond with relevant potential solutions.

Thanks! Changed to KB.

The other issue with syncing (Evernote Windows) that drives me nuts is the "(Not Responding)" issue.

This has been frequently mentioned in the forum.

Eventually Evernote snaps out of the "not responding" fog and syncs, usually after I leave and brew a pot of coffee.

I got a reply from Support today about the synchronization failure problems I had on Tuesday:

"Thanks for the log.
I apologize for any confusion.
The errors in the log were caused by a minor service outage on our end, that we identified and resolved on Wednesday morning.
Everything is now running smoothly on our end, so if sync has resumed for you, then there is no cause for further concern.
I apologize again for any inconvenience you experienced due to this issue."

Hmmm.... I checked the Evernote Status web page throughout the day.

http://status.evernote.com/

It did not mention the "minor service outage".

The problem affected me from early morning until 7pm.

Sigh
