New desktop syncs evernote touch, not desktop client

I got a new desktop at work running Windows 8. I installed the desktop version of Evernote and it synced 221 of my 229 notes before failing. I tried and tried and it kept failing to synchronize. So I installed Evernote Touch via the app store and it synced everything perfectly. I uninstalled the desktop client, reinstalled it, re-synced and same problem. I'm not sure what to do. :( And I don't want to rely on just Evernote Touch because it's harder to edit my work notebook on a touch screen.

Here are the last few things from my activity log. I would attach the full one but it says I'm not permitted to upload that kind of file.

Hi.  If you don't really want to use Evernote Touch I'd recommend uninstalling it.  If you need to make Evernote Desktop work,  let's concentrate on fixing that.  If there are problems meantime,  can you use the Web version?

The usual recommendations are -

  • Raise a support ticket (see below) - they'll probably ask you for the full log.
  • Empty any available Trash notebooks and export all unsynced / local notes to ENEX files
  • Backup the desktop database as it currently exists
  • Exit Evernote completely
  • Use Revo Uninstaller Free to completely remove your current Desktop client
  • Download the latest public release from Evernote.com and install

If that doesn't work correctly..

  • Exit Evernote again
  • Rename the database file
  • Restart Evernote and allow the server to rebuild the database

If in ANY doubt about any of these operations,  search for more information in the forums or wait for Support to walk you through them.

Good luck!

Yes, I can use the web version.

I have tried completely uninstalling. The thing is, the desktop version on my home computer has no issues syncing with the web version, and both are accurate with one another. I haven't created any new notes on this (the work) computer because it never synced my notes in the first place. So I tried your second option of completely deleting the database file (in fact, I deleted everything in the database folder) and restarted Evernote to allow the server to rebuild the database. I have 230 notes synced between Evernote web and my desktop version on my home PC. 2 new ones were created yesterday. When I deleted the database this morning on my work computer, it synced the 2 new ones but once again failed to sync completely. It'll only sync 225 of the 230 notes.

I suppose I have no other option than to submit a ticket. Thanks for your help.
