Reminder links for desktop vs. web

Hello,

 

I'm new to EN...I've noticed when I receive evernote reminders via email, the link takes me first to the website and then offers a redirect to the Desktop App (Mac).  I've noticed this behavior in a couple of other instances too, but can't remember the specific circumstances (maybe when attempting to read or save a PDF that is posted online?).

 

At any rate, is there a way to modify this behavior?  Seems like a bunch of extra steps.
