jmayson 10
I signed up for the $5 plan last month. I'm about halfway through my first month and I have decided I would rather have the $45 annual plan. How do I do this? Cancel my premium account the day before it expires and switch to the annual plan? Link to comment
engberg 89
Yes, you can press the "Cancel" link from the Settings page on the web at any time. You'll stay Premium until the end of the period you've already paid, so you don't need to wait until the end of the month to do this. When the month ends, we'll convert you back to Free, and you can upgrade back to Premium with an annual subscription. I'm pretty sure we also send a polite email letting you know this is happening with hints about what you can do to remedy the situation ... Link to comment
jmayson 10
Cool, sounds easy enough. I was dipping my toe in the pool so to speak, now I "need" Evernote. :-) Link to comment
muvanni 0
Along those lines, if I sign-up for the premium plan for a year ($45), will I get a reminder to sign up (or not) after the year is up or does Evernote do like many other sites and just continue to bill your credit card? The reason I ask is because many other sites make it almost impossible to discontinue the service. You basically have to cancel your credit card to get them to stop. I am assuming Evernote does not do this? Other than that, I love the product and want to go premium. Link to comment

drmrbrewer 11
Slightly related question... if you go for the month-by-month premium service, can you use it as a way to buy extra storage on a temporary basis, e.g. for a month of two of anticipated heavy use, and then cancel and revert back to free? Does one lose anything (obviously, apart from the premium features) by doing this? What happens to the searchable pdf information on reverting to free -- is it just lost? Thanks. Link to comment
engberg 89
If you upgrade to Premium for a month, upload a bunch of files, and then cancel back to Free, all of the notes you created will stay in your account. You'll be able to open the Premium-only files from within your clients, but you won't be able to edit and save them back into Evernote. (You can still edit the parts of the note around the file - i.e. the part you see in the note editor, the title, etc.)If you uploaded a PDF scan, and it was processed for recognition, that alternate searchable PDF data will stay with that note. (If you were to delete this note and make a new note with the original PDF, you wouldn't be able to search that new note.)So this is definitely a usage that we try to support ... feel free to convert to Premium for a month or two only if that's handy for you.
