Evernote is good but just integrity

The major issue on evernote is the integrity of the data base

it is server for user never know when the data they put in the evernote will be "lose"

or you just can not find it

 

Fortunately , the issue is sledom occured on "evernote , main server" what I have (and now still suffer)

are the local database (windows)

 

Especially the data you upload on evernote long time ago , even the note is share with (syn to ) other platform (and have a copy in

evernote main server)

soem how , soem time , some... I don't know why

you just lost it , you can not find it out

 

I try a lot and find a way to compromise it ,

 

1. you need search on Web platform

   and count how many notes related the key word you are interested

 

2. key in the same key word on Window evernote

   then , base on my experience (~ 60%)

   you could find the discrepancy of the result  between Web / Windows

 

3. the most important and you could solve it by

 

  1. click the note on Web

     then add some space or enter  (please don't delete some space , it don't work    )

  

  2. Syn again on your local (windows) evernote

 

 

4. Then  you could got the note  "again"   Congregation the data come back

 

 

 

The evenrote mentioned , it is your second brain , but.... you know the brain will "forget "   as human being

 

and , if you have data more then 50 G , of cause this brain ...  overloading  (no matter you use SSD , with 8G , apparently you need more powerful gear, I think may be need a mainframe)

 

 

Fortunately you could count on web evernote (even it is not as friendly as Window evernote)

but you only could do is accept it

Hi. Thanks for posting your experience. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that you have 50 GB+ of data in Evernote and notes on your Windows device are disappearing, though they still exist on the Web. If so, would you mind starting a support ticket? I think this is probably a bug that the Evernote developers are unaware of, and it would be nice for all of their users if we could get this fixed. Thanks!

 thanks for your input , I have been issue this case many times,  upgrade evernote version , remove database and syn all again ... 

it still will lose in some how, some date....  and you never know which data have been lose 

only when you search it

I am give up

so I start to figure out the way , how to get along with this bug

 

the way I mentioned above , it can let user to check the note on local evernote

even it was lose

 

Now the review function , local evernot is still better than web evernote

 

 

 

 

 

I have ask  the supporter , is there any function for checking database integrity the supporter answer was no 

I also try the debug evenote , ==> optimize  database (of course it didn't work)

 

i just take example , that I  search on web / local window evernote

 

so , one could found 40 notes the other is 41????? 

 why ??? tell me why??? so funny

Thanks for the tickets and the screen shots. You might want to close the quotations in your second search and see what happens. The results will probably be the same (40), but it is worth a try.

I think this problem, rather than "integrity," could be better termed "search discrepancies." I've got several threads on these forums about discrepancies I have discovered. In particular, there used to be huge ones when mixing Asian characters and English in a search. I think this problem may have been solved by now. However, the search discrepancies might help explain past problems.

Any shared or joined notebooks have the potential to mess up search results, because different clients (iOS, in particular) sometimes treat them differently. The trash is another culprit. Make sure to have the trash emptied and (if possible) no joined or shared notebooks to get the most accurate tests of searches.

Evernote is also trying to make sure that searches perform exactly the same for every client. Your feedback will help them improve the searches. I agree with you that diagnostic tools would be nice.

 I use up to date Beta version  when I take the screen shot , so I will try to empty the trash and try it again

 

 Search discrepancy between different platform  (by mix Asian Characters / Alphabet),,, mmm I can not change my database to alphabet only )

but one thing I can do is ,  I seldom to search by Asian characters for it really lose a lot and incorrect (some times lose , some times just pick out total different things)

I also feedback the issue many times and .. of cause give up (for I can make thing go on by search Alphabet expect the discrepancy )

I've actually found the Asian character search to be quite accurate. Have you tried using quotation marks ("天下" instead of 天下 -- in your example the quotation marks were around English words)? I've reported inaccuracies in the past and I think most of them have been cleaned up, but if you are seeing problems, I encourage you to report the specific search strings that are not working. The staff is usually quite quick to address the issues, because they take the search capabilities pretty seriously. If you are frustrated by the searches, it is worth reporting it. There is nothing like searching for a note you know is there and not being able to find it because of bugs.

for database issue 

there is a way I also found can solve it by user

 

there is a ticket (602481, 6-26-2014) I post couple weeks ago , even supporter not yet have the answer

 

but you could solve it by don't need delet note and create again

 

 

1. some time the note pick out but it can not show the content properly

 

  (the PDF file, could just show a line but no content)

 

2.if you try to reload the content from history list 

 

  it will show ran out of memory after finish syn

 

I try many times / way  (exit , reopen evernote, reboot notebook)and it still the same 

 

 

 3. if I change a notebook or desktop , the note can show properly

 

 

 

 so the solve way is 

 

 

1. remove the note from one notebook to others  (on the desktop or notebook

  that you occured this issue)

 

2. Syn

 

 

 

3. if the content pop out properly 

 

4. move the note back to the notebook you plan to

 with double or single quotation marks  are the same ==> not correct search result 

 

 (you can see , on win evernote , the mark in yellow is totally ..... not thing to do with what I am key in )

 

 

 this is an issue form very early beginning , and .... I have been report many many times   and of cause , give up again
