John Zeman 29
Hi all,For the most part this Evernote newbie is adapting just fine to this neat program but I haven't been able to find a way to search for tags that have not been assigned to any notes. Am I missing something? Windows client with the latest version of EN.Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Link to comment
Level 5* jefito 5,587 Posted June 30, 2014 Level 5* Share Posted June 30, 2014 No way that I know of with the Windows client; Evernote search tools are generally for finding notes, not tags. I don't see any way to do it in the Tags panel either (what you get when you click on the Tags header in the left panel). Nor in the web client, for that matter. Link to comment
Level 5 jbenson2 2,146 Posted July 1, 2014 Level 5 Share Posted July 1, 2014 Every so often I will do some tag "house-cleaning" and look for tags with no associated notes.I just run down the Left Panel under Tags. As you can see in this example, I have no notes associated with Company. There is no number in parenthesis after the tag name. http://www.evernote.com/shard/s2/sh/b8091de2-53dc-44de-8d01-7d650b1a27bf/03f9b6beaa9faa50e1b509bab3b5b1ee Link to comment

Wouldn't deleting the tag lead to unwanted banging of heads on desks? Link to comment

Wouldn't deleting the tag lead to unwanted banging of heads on desks? No, it is not a Stack. It is a tag. Due the large number of tags, for organizational reasons I prefer to use two levels of tags (a parent level tag and a child level tag). The parent level tag has no notes associated with it. But to address your comment - here is another view. I created a standard tag named 9999 and it has no notes. http://www.evernote.com/shard/s2/sh/5d56d379-3342-4d87-9da7-400cc2a91fa4/6f5f9e4b9c1c1c6809d0775248a5062b edit: I never, ever delete a Parent level tag. But just in case, I always make a nightly backup of my Evernote database. Link to comment
John Zeman 29
Thanks guys, orphan tags aren't really a problem for me, I just wondered if I was missing something obvious. Link to comment
