(Archived) emptying the trash takes forever

I have 7773 notes in the trash. When I select "Empty Trash" Evernote enter the "Application Not Responding" state and I have to "Force Quit" it.

The console logs don't show any error.

If I only select 534 notes to delete the Evernote hangs in "Application Not Responding" for ~15 minutes at 99% CPU load . That's 15mx60=900 sec . And that means that each notes takes 1.7 secs to be deleted.

I don't know why it takes so much CPU to delete notes in the Trash. But the fact that this operation is blocking is quite annoying given that it takes so long to complete.

Is there anyway to speed up the "empty trash" operation?

I'm attaching a Sample of Evernote taken with the Activity Monitor in case it help.

I suspect that this has something to do this the view (i'm using list view order by creation date)

Sample of Evernote.txt.zip

I tried also with the thumnail view and got the same results.

Bump.

Anyone from Evernote could look into this? I tried the same thing in the Evernote for windows and it was much faster (less that a minute or so to delete 5000+ notes).

I think I am having the same problem -- did this ever get solved?

Also, how do you empty only some notes from the trash? I can erase one note at a time, obviously, but whenever I select a chunk of notes, the 'erase note' option disappears.
