Why did the gray elephant suddenly pop up out of nowhere?

I'm not sure what I did. I was typing and accidentally hit some key. I've no idea what key it was but suddenly a gray elephant popped up, then before I could hover over it it slipped back away out of sight. What did I do? I want to make sure I didn't reset or change anything by accident.

You are probably on Mac and it probably appeared to tell you that it was loading "related" notes at the bottom of the screen. Nothing to worry about (if I am correct about what it is).
