Merged web-clipped note adds extra margin on left

I've encountered an interesting issue when merging two web-clipped notes on Evernote for Mac.

 

The notes were originally clipped in Safari as "simplified article", and both notes appear normal in Evernote for Mac after the clipping.

 

However, after merging the notes, the merged note has added a huge margin on the left side of the note.   The note thus "appears" as empty, but if I scroll to the right inside the note I can see the merged content.

 

Apologies if a duplicate post, I did search the forum and haven't found anything.

The two clippings may have incompatible code somewhere - can you remove formatting in one or both before merging?

Interesting thought.   They are from the same website (was a two-part report) and the formatting appears identical in the individual notes.
