Evernote for Windows 5.4 shuts down immediately

I installed Evernote 5.4 on Windows 8.1 Update 1 but it shuts down immediately after startup. It splashes very quickly an "Explore Evernote in Five Steps" screen after which it shuts down. Evernote used to work before on my computer.

 

Any help for the issue? There is nothing in the Windows Event Log.

Nothing specific here,  but I suggest you use Revo uninstaller to find and kill anything to do with Evernote on your computer.  Once cleaned,  reinstall Evernote and try again - it may only be that your update/ installation didn't complete properly and needs to be refreshed.  Raise a support ticket too,  just in case of further issues...
