problem in android with docx (microsoft word) attachments sent via outlook add-on

we moved to a new exchange outlook system at our office a few months ago, and since that time i can't read (on my android phone or tablet) docx files that i upload to evernote via the outlook addon. however, if i forward an email (with a Word .docx attachment) to my evernote, I can view it fine on my android phone or tablet. Any clues to a solution?
