cerega 2
I'm running Evernote on Windows 7 and trying to rename a tag. It's worked before, but this time it isn't working. I right-click on the tag name, select rename, and enter the new text. Then when I click again outside the box where the newly renamed tag is, it reverts to the original name. Why is it not working? The version of Evernote I'm running is 5.3.1.3363. Link to comment
cerega 2
Okay, I just logged onto the Evernote website and made the change -- that worked just fine. But shouldn't I be able to do it from the Windows client? Link to comment

Level 5* JMichaelTX 4,118 Posted May 11, 2014 Level 5* Share Posted May 11, 2014 This arises from inconsistent behavior within Evernote. Sometimes you can just click outside the box/window (Info Panel), sometimes you need to hit TAB, sometimes you need to hit ENTER. The UI standard for a very long time (decades) is that you hit TAB to move to the next field, and you hit ENTER to commit the changes (same as hitting the OK button. But Evernote seems either ignorant of these standards, or chooses to ignore them. Adhering to long-established standards is the one best things a developer can do to make his/her app more intuitive. The next best thing is being consistent in the behavior across the app. Link to comment

cerega 2
Thanks to everyone for your answers. Hitting enter did the job. Maybe if I save how to do it in Evernote, I'll even think of looking the next time I can't figure it out! Link to comment
